An early pre-dawn departure from your Pune doorstep keeps the long first leg comfortable. The chauffeur runs south on NH-48 through Satara, Kolhapur and Belagavi before turning west at Ankola towards the Arabian Sea.
The morning is reserved for the Mahabaleshwar Temple and the Gokarna beach chain, followed by an unhurried coastal drive north to Murudeshwar in the afternoon.
Murudeshwar in the morning light is the visual centrepiece of the trip. The drive onwards to Udupi runs along the Maravanthe stretch, where the highway is squeezed between the Souparnika river and the open sea.
The last morning covers the Udupi temple complex and the ferry to St. Mary's Island from Malpe, after which the vehicle turns north for the long return drive to Pune.

Every other halt on the route is optional. These four are the reason the itinerary runs the way it does.
Gokarna pairs one of the most revered Shiva temples on the west coast with a string of quiet crescent beaches. Om Beach takes its name from the twin curves of sand that form the shape of the syllable, and the Sri Mahabaleshwar Temple in the old town is the reason pilgrims have been walking these lanes for centuries.
Murudeshwar sits on a headland with the Arabian Sea on three sides, dominated by an enormous seated Shiva statue and a towering Raja Gopura entrance tower. The temple beach below is broad, clean and easy to walk, and the whole complex is best seen in early morning light before the sea breeze picks up.
The Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi is the spiritual anchor of the coast, known for the Kanakana Kindi — the small silver-plated window through which devotees take darshan. The surrounding matha square, its adjoining temples and the Udupi food streets are all within walking distance of each other.
Reached by ferry from Malpe port near Udupi, St. Mary's Island is a small cluster of islands famous for columnar basaltic lava formations that rise out of the sand in hexagonal pillars. The crossing is short, and the island is a designated national geological monument.
Pune to Gokarna is a full driving day. A 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM start leaves room for meal halts and still gets you to Om Beach before sunset.
Three of the four highlights are active temples with footwear removal at the entrance, and two of them are approached across warm sand.
The St. Mary's Island crossing from Malpe depends on daylight and sea conditions. We plan it for the morning so there is a fallback if it is suspended.
If darshan timings matter more than beach time, say so when you book and the driving order will be rearranged around the temple schedules.

The starting price covers the private air-conditioned vehicle for the full four days, fuel, the chauffeur, driver allowance and night halt as quoted, and all sightseeing transfers between Gokarna, Murudeshwar, Udupi and Malpe. Hotel accommodation, ferry tickets, temple donations and meals are not included. The final figure depends on the vehicle category you choose and your exact routing.

Yes. October to February brings dry weather, calmer seas and comfortable daytime temperatures, which suits both the beach stops and the long highway legs. The monsoon months are scenic but the coastal roads are wet and ferry services to St. Mary's Island are frequently suspended, so we plan those months with alternate sightseeing built in.
