Day-Wise Plan

Six Days Across Four Kerala Bases

The tour is built around four bases rather than a single hub, so the driving is spread evenly and no day is spent entirely in the car.

Base 01 of 04

Kochi

Arrival, harbour heritage and Marine Drive

The tour opens on the Kerala coast. You land at Kochi, meet the chauffeur assigned to you for the full six days, and spend the first evening at an easy pace along the harbour before the drive into the hills begins.

Day 01Airport to city: 30–45 km

Arrive in Kochi · Fort Kochi and Marine Drive

Your chauffeur receives you at Cochin International Airport or Ernakulam railway station and the vehicle stays with you from this point onward. After check-in, the afternoon covers Fort Kochi — the Chinese fishing nets on the shoreline, St. Francis Church, the Dutch Palace at Mattancherry and the old spice-trading lanes of Jew Town. The day closes with a walk along Marine Drive as the container ships move through the backwater channel.

Base 02 of 04

Munnar

Tea country, Mattupetty and the high ranges

From sea level the road climbs to roughly 1,600 metres through the Western Ghats. Munnar is the tea heartland of Kerala, and two full days here cover both the plantation belt and the higher viewpoints.

Day 02Approx. 130 km · 4–4.5 hrs

Kochi to Munnar · Waterfalls on the ghat road

An early departure takes you up the ghat road through Neriamangalam and Adimali. The drive itself is part of the experience, with stops at Valara and Cheeyappara waterfalls and the first tea slopes appearing as you gain altitude. Evening is free in Munnar town once you reach your base for the night.

Day 03Local sightseeing · 60–80 km

Munnar sightseeing · Mattupetty and tea plantations

A full day across the high range: Mattupetty Dam and the surrounding grasslands, Echo Point, Kundala Lake, the Tea Museum where the processing stages are explained, and Eravikulam National Park at Rajamalai when it is open to visitors. Photography stops through the plantation roads are built into the day rather than rushed.

Base 03 of 04

Thekkady

Periyar wildlife and the Cardamom Hills

The route drops south-east into the Cardamom Hills. Thekkady is the gateway to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, and the surrounding hills are planted with cardamom, pepper, clove and vanilla.

Day 04Approx. 110 km · 3.5–4 hrs

Munnar to Thekkady · Spice plantation belt

The drive runs past cardamom estates and small hill settlements before reaching Thekkady. On arrival you can join the Periyar lake boat cruise, where elephants, sambar deer, wild boar and a wide range of birdlife are commonly sighted along the shoreline, or take a guided walk through a working spice plantation.

Base 04 of 04

Alleppey

Backwaters, houseboat cruise and departure

The final leg descends to the Kuttanad backwaters. Alleppey is where the canal network, paddy fields below sea level and traditional kettuvallam houseboats define the landscape.

Day 05Approx. 145 km · 4–4.5 hrs

Thekkady to Alleppey · Backwater houseboat cruise

You descend from the hills to the coastal plain and board a traditional houseboat at the Alleppey jetty. The cruise moves slowly through the canals past paddy fields, coir villages and church spires, with the boat anchoring for the night in a quiet stretch of the backwaters. Your chauffeur and vehicle wait at the jetty for the next morning.

Day 06Approx. 60 km · 1.5–2 hrs

Alleppey to Kochi · Departure transfer

After disembarking, the drive returns north along the coastal road to Kochi. Depending on your flight or train timing, a short stop at Cherai Beach or the Kochi shopping streets can be added before your departure transfer to the airport or railway station.

Honest Logistics

How You Reach Kerala from Pune

Kerala sits well over a thousand kilometres south of Pune, so most guests fly or take the train and pick up the chauffeur-driven vehicle locally. We will not quote you an air or rail fare we do not control — here are the three honest options.

Call dispatch: +91 90116 16565
Recommended for 6-day trips

Fly to Kochi

Approx. 1 hr 45 min in the air

The fastest option. Direct and one-stop services operate from Pune to Cochin International Airport (COK). Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall and the vehicle is yours for the rest of the tour. Airfare is booked separately by you, or we can coordinate it on request — we do not quote a fixed flight fare.

Good for families with time

Train to Ernakulam

Roughly a full day on the rails

Several services run from Pune towards Ernakulam Junction and Ernakulam Town. It is the relaxed and lower-cost way to arrive, and the pickup point simply shifts from the airport to the station. Rail tickets are booked separately by you.

Quoted per kilometre

Drive down from Pune

Long-haul road journey

If you prefer to travel entirely by road, we can run the trip as a full outstation journey from Pune on our published per-kilometre rates. This adds travel days at each end and is quoted on the actual kilometres, driver allowance and night halts — tell our dispatch team and we will work out the plan with you.

Transparent Rate Card

Choose Your Vehicle & Per-Kilometre Rate

Extra kilometres beyond the shared itinerary, and full road journeys from Pune, are billed on these published rates. Driver allowance ₹500 per day, night halt ₹500 per night. Toll and parking extra.

Got Questions?

Kerala Tour Package FAQs

Travel logistics, vehicle choice, seasons and what the quoted price actually covers.

What does the Kerala Backwaters & Hill Paradise package cover?

It is a 6 Days / 5 Nights chauffeur-driven tour starting from ₹19,800 that covers four bases — Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey. The plan includes Fort Kochi and Marine Drive, the Munnar tea plantations and Mattupetty, the Periyar wildlife area at Thekkady and a traditional houseboat cruise on the Alleppey backwaters.

How do we travel from Pune to Kerala for this tour?

Kerala is normally reached from Pune by flight to Cochin International Airport or by train to Ernakulam, with the chauffeur-driven vehicle provided locally in Kerala from the moment you arrive. Flights and train tickets are booked separately and are not part of the package price. If you would rather travel entirely by road, we can run the whole trip from Pune on our published per-kilometre outstation rates instead.

Which vehicle should we choose for the Munnar and Thekkady ghat roads?

For two to four travellers an AC Sedan at ₹13 per km is sufficient. Families of five or six are more comfortable in an Ertiga at ₹16 per km, and an Innova Crysta at ₹22 per km handles the climb to Munnar with the most space for luggage. Groups of thirteen or more travel in a Tempo Traveller at ₹32 per km. Sedan, Ertiga and Crysta bookings carry a 250 km per day minimum average, and the Tempo Traveller a 300 km per day minimum average.

Are hotels and the houseboat stay included in the price?

No. The package as listed covers the vehicle, chauffeur, fuel and driver allowance. Hotel accommodation and the Alleppey houseboat stay are arranged only if you ask us to, and are quoted separately so you can pick the category and budget you prefer. We do not attach any fixed property or rating to this itinerary.

When is the best time to visit Kerala on this itinerary?

October to March is the most comfortable window, with dry weather across the coast, the hills and the backwaters. Munnar and Thekkady stay cool through these months, so carry a light jacket. The monsoon months bring heavy rain in the Western Ghats, which is scenic but can affect ghat-road driving times and outdoor sightseeing.

Can the six-day itinerary be customised?

Yes. Days can be redistributed between Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey, and additions such as Kumarakom, Varkala or Kovalam can be worked in. Extra days are billed on the same per-kilometre rate along with the driver allowance of ₹500 per day and night halt of ₹500 per night. Share what you want to see and our team will restructure the plan.

How do we book and who do we contact during the trip?

Call +91 97650 66565 for tour planning or +91 90116 16565 for general dispatch, or message us on WhatsApp at +91 90116 16565. Our office is at 89/300 Laxmi Nagar, Near Parvati Police Station, Pune 411009, and the same dispatch team stays reachable through all six days of your tour.
